So many wonderful beaches to relax upon in the Caribbean splendor of Turks and Caicos, and so much to savor and enjoy. These lovely threads of tropical getaway in the middle of a warm sea may seem small on the map but are in fact generous with their sandy spaces, where visitors flock to splash in the waves and soak up some sun. In fact, there is an abundance of shoreline to explore here, ranging from the nonstop festive atmosphere of resort properties to secluded spots where you can either enjoy with the family or use as a hideaway for you and that special someone.
Finding the right beach in Turk and Caicos is really all about what feels right to you. There are places where you can expect lots of energy and full services available. Then there are experiences that will make you feel like the whole world has been left behind. Are you looking for activities to be happening all around you? Or is it perhaps a nature hike or secret snorkeling launch point that tickles your fancy? There is no wrong answer. What your heart wants is what it wants and in this remarkable part of the world, you will find it, whatever that perfect beach vision you seek may be.
Saving Grace
The obvious place to begin with is very likely where you will first find yourself when arriving in Turks and Caicos. Grace Bay really is where most of the resort beach action is at in these parts. We’re talking about 12 straight miles of shoreline simply packed with all sorts of fun, or if you prefer, pure relaxation. Not only that, but Grace Bay has also ended up on list after list as the world’s very best beach. And why not? A local reef about a mile out shelters the shore from Atlantic swells, providing for placid waters that are easy to slip into and forget one’s worries. As for activities, the local waves are open to sailing and catamarans, yet mercifully free of noisy jet skis, allowing for a peaceful scene. It’s a postcard-perfect tropical beach dream come true, complete with lines of palm trees.
The Perfect Kids’ Spot
Travel east from Grace Bay’s hotspot destination and watch the world melt away to a perfect getaway for the family. Long Bay Beach offers even calmer waters than Grace Bay, most of it nice and shallow, making taking a swim with the kids as worry-free as can be. There are also a lot fewer folks in these parts, so families seeking a little get-away-from-it-all quiet will be pleasantly rewarded. And even though there isn’t as much going on as in other more populated beaches, this is an amazing place to go horseback riding. Imagine the memories you will be generating for children and parents alike taking such a magical adventure in this special place.
Slipping Into Snorkeling
Looking for an amazing beach that isn’t too far off the beaten path yet can offer one of the easiest access points to amazing snorkeling? Then travel just a wee bit west of Grace Bay, seek out the Children’s Park, and mosey on up to Bight Park Beach. Here, the waters are crystal clear thanks to being sheltered from the constant trade winds. Slip on your flippers and mask and you’re in a whole new world right off the shore. Even for first-timers, it’s a fantastic window below the waves. Expect to encounter turtles, rays and maybe even some nurse sharks in this undersea reef garden. And for those sticking to the shore, the white sand is just as inviting as anywhere else on the islands.
Supreme Seclusion
If you really, really want that perfect deserted island feeling, we may have the perfect Turks and Caicos Islands beach for you. Located in the remote western end of Providenciales, Malcolm’s Road Beach is perhaps among the most scenic shorelines you will ever see. Accessible only by a dirt road, it does take a bit of motivation to arrive. It is highly recommended to use 4x4 vehicles to get there, preferably taller ones to be sure you can clear any road anomalies. Once there, the beauty will captivate you. And being in the midst of the Northwest Point Marine National Park, snorkelers will have one more reason to make the trek. Be sure to bring lots of provisions here — think food, water and sunscreen — and you will enjoy a day you will never forget.
